In 1980, Texan Robert Svoboda became the first Westerner to be licensed as an Ayurvedic physician.
Trained under Guru Aghori Vimalananda, he travelled many theoretical paths, immersing himself in the traditions of Tantra, Ayurveda and Jyotish (India’s system of divination), to name but a few. In person Svoboda riffs on everything, from neurobiology to thoroughbred horse breeding and the health benefits of singing show tunes. It’s exactly this eclectic worldview that attracts students from every corner of the globe to his teachings.
